Mine did the same thing. Both preview versions.
I would restart, blue hang, then restart with SHIFT and it would start normally. Restart again, 50% of time it would hang at blue screen.
Verbose did not help as the screen mine hung at was after OS X stops loading scrolling text, so could not see where it would stop (looking for 'we're hanging here...' message).
Finally gave up on Lion yesterday and went back to SL. Not worth trouble. Reported a bunch of stuff so I did my developer thing, now I'll just wait it out until release is near.

I have my home computer set up as a mini-webserver, which I mostly use for sharing pictures and other files with people, however, recently, I have been unable to serve pictures over a certain size.
Pictures will load to a point, but then they will stop loading and I will get an error in Console.log and system.log:
/Applications/Safari.app/Contents/MacOS/Safari: Corrupt JPEG data: 2 extraneous bytes before marker 0xdb
/Applications/Safari.app/Contents/MacOS/Safari: Corrupt JPEG data: premature end of data segment
I know that the pictures are not corrupt because:
1. They worked fine a month ago
2. I can open them in any picture editor/viewer without problems
3. It happens to all my pictures above a certain (unknown) size
Here's a link to one picture: http://cjc343.no-ip.com/IMG_0001.JPG
Everyone who I've had try to load it in any browser cannot load it past the very first part. I have absolutely no clue what's going on.
I hope I provided enough details...

By using a 3rd party application. Here are 2 choices.

You might also consider creating a password protected disk image (don't store the password in your keychain  ). And then mount it, copy your.. umm.. sensitive material into it... and then unmount it. Next time you mount it, you will be prompted for the password.

As far as more serious concerns, I'm sure the military has contingency defenses in case the system comes crashing down....
Ain't gonna do you any good.... We Canucks are short on beer (it's been a hot summer) and if the power cuts out and what little beer we have left gets warm, we be coming down for yours! So hide your brews... and head for the hills....
Don't trust anyone who is polite, or apologizes for no good reason - they may be spy... and if you hear the word 'eh'... well, it's too late.... you've been infiltrated....
Biggest military in world can't stop 35 million desperate, thirsty, poutine eating, beer drinking, hockey playing.....
wait one ...... wait one...... hold on......
I've just been informed that Molson's has ramped up their production lines.... you're safe.... for now......

My Uptime - 12 hours :p
Do you pay your electricity bill?
Also that is one sure way to fry your Mac. Power surge can happen at any time.. Do you really trust those $100 surge boards for 24/7 use or do you have UPS.
Also think of how much dust gets in there...
Not smart to leave your computer on 24/7.
Unless you are completely unplugging your computer when it's not in use, just turing it off doesn't really protect it from power surges.

On the front page, I had a spinning beachball for a few minutes and could not exit. Doing the software update which included Safari and Java seemed to solve this problem, but I'm not sure if that was the cause.

Now I'm wondering, they say the first 500 people there will get a free T-shirt, is that the first 500 that actually buy Leopard, or the first 500 that walk into the store? I ordered online, and because of the issues with not being sure whether MacMall is going to ship it and have it to me on Friday, I'm still teetering with cancelling the order, going to the store, buying it with my student discount and getting the free T-shirt.I'll be at the Palo Alto Store by about 2PM with my copy from a nearby college bookstore that I'm getting for $69 before 2PM. That should put me near the front of the queue.
I go to the store for the party social part and get in line even though I am not going to buy it there so I can get inside the store to play with it on one of the Macs inside. I'll have my old G4 PB with me and will be installing it while I'm in the queue from the copy I buy earlier at a college store nearby.
Pretty sure you have to buy a $129 copy to get the T-Shirt.

When traveling to Europe, don't only go to the "tourist" areas, take the time to walk or explore around the cities outside the tourist zones.
When I was in Prague, I found a really cool air history museum (with lots of Russian jets and MIGs which would be harder to find in the USA) but it was way outside the tourist zone and I think it was good to get a feel for how the city really was.

I just got the iPhone 4 for Verizon and I usually would let my phone die all the way and then charge it for 12 hours to get it completely charged. Is it the same for the iPhone 4 or does it not matter? If it does matter is it longer than 12 hours? Also, can leaving your phone plugged in when it is fully charged hurt it? Thanks!

Not with holy water, I hope. Thanks, torbjoern, as we know all computers raise concerns but less so Macs, your holy water comment made me laugh! I hope Steve is receiving blessings and good care and he is in my thoughts and prayers.
I ran some technical inquiries past OWC and found them helpful. It is a pity they don't have a store in the UK. Unless I am wrong on this and I don't know about the Mini, Samsung (and possibly Hynix) seem to be the only wholly reliable brand at 16GB in the 2010 iMac, which further cements my generally good view of Samsung. I will probably have to order from OWC and absorb the shipping/customs.

you had my curious about the answer there to that,
I found this on google:
http://discussions.info.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2025553&tstart=60
Sounds like you have system 6
and you need an 800k boot floppy
that shift key command only worked on system 7 onwards

That system seems more powerful than a new Ibook 12". yes the ibook has a little faster processor, but this imac has 80GB,SD, 768mb ram, Plus a 17" LCD, even if It can't exactly be used with anything else. But then because its not new and shiny depreciation sets in. If I had the cash I'd be willing to pay $800-850 depending on what (demo only, of course) software may be left on there.

Is anyone using a bluetooth headset with their 4th Gen iPod Touch? Which models work?
I am looking to use it for some Ustreaming and it would be ideal if I could use the mic from a bluetooth headset to provide the audio.
It seems like most of the questions around the forums are for older generations and was surprised to find very little information on the topic.

You're going to rip your hair out coding for IE6.. is there a reason you're wanting to?
Considering that IE6 is being promoted by Microsoft to die I really wouldn't worry about making it compatible, unless your audience is from South Korea where 24% are still using IE6 :p
